SOLVITUR AMBULANDO
Photo Essay
For this book, I sought to explore the different avenues for everyday theology that Emily Stimpson highlights and to reflect on where I see those emerge in my everyday life. The various pages that follow highlight moments of worshiping, celebrating, feasting and reveling in the communion of saints. It is through embodied theology that we can meet with people under the shade of our heavenly father’s loving body. It is through him that we are offered sweet relief from the blinding light of our broken world. Such relief allows us to see ourselves and the world as it should be, and emboldens us to love and live in light of the Eucharist.

ECHOES OF EDEN
Hand-drawn Poetry Journal
This piece is a collection of sketches, poetry, letters and prayer journals written to showcase women in the Bible. This specific work celebrates Mary and Eve and explores their relation to one another.
My desire to explore the relationship between Mary and Eve was first sparked by scholarly pieces that explored the various interpretations of the Creation story. Such interpretations can have implications for womankind as a whole. This ignited in me a deep desire to uncover bits and pieces of Eve and Mary’s story that might go overlooked.
One of my other motivations in creating this book was to give Eve and Mary their own voice, ones that are often found missing from the Bible or scholarly literature alike.
The images on the left showcase the artwork within the piece.
SAINTS ANONYMOUS
Devotional and Book Design
This project is a devotional book that includes excerpts from Flannery O'Connor's prayers, a scripture passage, a reflection, and then my own prayer as a response. My thought process behind the book is to create a safe space for people to grapple with the hardships that accompany a life toward sainthood. Each devotional will be written for a specific moment in the walk towards holiness (i.e. For the unnerving encounter with suffering, for the times you are disappointed with God, for learning about love, along with several others). My hope is that as people read these devotions they will be emboldened in their faith and recognize that you can hold both joy and sorrow at the same time, and that you can be a sinner and also a child of God.
AN EXPLORATION OF GRIEF
Illustrated and Animated Video
This piece is a collection of sketches that are animated and arranged in way to express some of the images of grief that I was seeing and processing in my own life during college.
This piece specifically depicts the relationship that I have with my twin sister who suffers from a severe chronic illness. Through this season, we have learned what it means to serve as both the caregiver and the patient. We will forever be learning the deeper meanings of love and sacrifice through this dynamic.
She collaborated with me on the project and her artistic touch is present in the track that runs behind the animations. She composed the piano piece and together we recorded it to capture the rich emotional and spiritual movements of grief.
WRITING
I have written a variety of pieces for school and for projects ranging from styles such as academic, poetry, prose, creative nonfiction, devotional and children's books.
